In the end, finishing touches from Russell propelled Kolkata to a competitive total of 177/6.
The Caribbean power-hitter remained unbeaten on 49 runs from 28 deliveries. Speedster Umran Malik finished with figures of 3/33 while the likes of T Natarajan, Marco Jansen, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar finished with a scalp each.
KKR bowlers derail SRH’s run chase
In reply, openers Abhishek Sharma and captain Kane Williamson made a statement with a 30-run opening stand before the latter was clean bowled. Sharma then looked to anchor the chase before being dismissed in the 12th over for a vital 43 runs from 28 balls.
