4 Surprising Wrestlers Who Beat Roman Reigns in 5 Years

Even though he’s been very hard to beat throughout his career, there have been times when he was defeated. Let’s look at the last four wrestlers who managed to pin Roman down in a match.
#4 – Roman Reigns falls to a family member
Roman Reigns’ transformation into the Tribal Chief has made him the powerful and formidable wrestler he is today. His earlier persona was forced on fans for years and didn’t go well, but in 2020, the company changed his character to a villain, which turned out to be a smart move.
As The Head of The Table, Reigns teamed up with his cousins, Jimmy and Jey Uso, to strengthen his position in the company. This group, known as The Bloodline, became dominant, with all three members holding a total of six championships at one point.
However, in 2023, Reigns’ fears as champion led to problems with The Usos. His actions pushed Jimmy and Jey to their limit, causing them to turn against him and leave the group.
During the 2023 Money In The Bank Premium Live Event in London, The Usos faced Reigns and their brother Solo Sikoa in a high-stakes tag team match. Even though Reigns’ titles weren’t at stake, Jey Uso surprised everyone by pinning Reigns to win the match. This marked the first time in 1294 days that The Head of The Table was pinned.
#3 – A King takes down an empire
Before Roman Reigns was pinned by his cousin Jey Uso earlier this year, he was trying to win over the fans as a good guy. In late 2019, the company attempted to make him popular by having him face one of the most disliked stars on the roster, Baron Corbin.
At that time, Baron Corbin was called King Corbin and held the United States Championship. They had a match at the Tables Ladders and Chairs Premium Live Event on December 15th, 2019.
Even though Reigns, who was the former Universal Champion, dominated most of the match, he ended up losing because other wrestlers interfered from outside the ring.
#2 – Roman Reigns falls to a double-team assault
A few months before his match against Corbin, Roman Reigns was in a tough and physical rivalry with Erick Rowan, who used to be a SmackDown Tag Team Champion.
In 2019, Erick Rowan had a strong year, working as the muscle for Daniel Bryan when Bryan was the WWE Champion. After parting ways with Bryan, Rowan aimed to make a name for himself as a singles wrestler with a new direction. And what better challenge than taking on the biggest star?
Rowan had been attacking Reigns for months, leading to a clash between them at Clash of Champions on September 15th, 2019. This was a no-disqualification match. As the match was reaching its conclusion, Reigns seemed like he was going to win. But then, Luke Harper (also known as Brodie Lee), who had been Rowan’s tag team partner for a long time, unexpectedly appeared and attacked Reigns. The two of them teamed up against Roman, overwhelming him, which allowed Erick Rowan to get the unexpected victory.
#1 – The Boss’ son takes down the poster boy
In 2019, Roman Reigns moved to Friday Night SmackDown, which was a significant career change for him. On his first night there, he surprised everyone by delivering his Superman punch to Vince McMahon, the chairman of WWE.
Vince’s son, Shane, wanted to take revenge on Roman for this action. Although the match seemed one-sided on paper, it resulted in one of the biggest losses in Roman Reigns’ career.
Shane McMahon and Roman Reigns faced each other at Super Showdown on June 7th, 2019. Just when it seemed like Roman, often called the Big Dog, was about to win, he was unexpectedly attacked with a claymore kick by Drew McIntyre. At that time, McIntyre was working for McMahon, and his attack allowed Shane to sneak in for the victory.
