6 Killed, 40 Injured In Fire At 7-Storey Building In Mumbai’s Goregaon

Goregaon, Mumbai, October 6, 2023 – In a tragic incident that sent shockwaves through Mumbai’s Goregaon suburb, six people lost their lives and 40 others sustained injuries when a massive fire engulfed a 7-storey building in the early hours of today. The incident occurred at the Jay Bhavani building in the Azad Nagar locality of Goregaon West.

The fire, which broke out at approximately 3 am, proved to be a harrowing ordeal for the residents of the building, as they were jolted awake by the raging flames and thick smoke that filled the corridors. Tragically, among the six casualties, one male and five females lost their lives, with two of them being minors. The injured victims were swiftly transported to HBT Hospital and Cooper Hospital in Mumbai for immediate medical attention. A trauma center in Jogeshwari also received some of the injured residents, highlighting the gravity of the situation.

The cause of the fire remains shrouded in mystery, and investigations are currently underway to determine its origin. Local authorities, including the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), have been working diligently to piece together the events leading up to this devastating incident.
