According to police, a 20-year-old Lancaster resident has died of a bullet in a balloon release on Sunday.
According to the DeSoto Police Department, the shooting occurred on April 22 in a ceremony in the 1100 block of Westlake Drive in honor of 19-year-old Cameron Collier, who was fatally shot in the driver’s seat of his Honda Accord.
Police said that after the ceremony, another participant, 20-year-old Colby Marquis Graham, was shot in the head.
Police said Graham initially survived but died several days later.
DeSoto police said detectives felt there was a connection between Graham’s death and Collier’s murder.
According to police, his investigation determined that Graham was mistakenly identified as Collier’s killer on several social media postings.
Police said Cameron Collier’s brother, 22-year-old Norman Christopher Collier, mistook internet rumors about the identity of his brother’s killer.
Police said Norman Collier took revenge against the wrong man at his brother’s balloon release ceremony during Graham’s shooting.
Police said DeSoto police arrested Norman Collier and charged him with murder in the case of Graham’s death.
According to police, Collier is lodged in the Dallas County Jail, where he is being held on $ 1 million bond.
