Dak Prescott thought he could improve even if he wasn’t playing by assessing the opportunity to look at it from a different perspective after his ankle injury at the end of last season.
Star Dallas quarterback missed most of the training camp this summer due to a shoulder injury, but he believes he was right.
“When I went back, this experience clearly helped, but I studied and prepared myself, and then I went to regain my health with just my shoulders and this playbook, not just my feet. We’ve done all the work, “Prescott said. “I feel like I’m playing the best I’ve ever played.”
Prescott won the third best passer rating in his six-year career in his first home game since he broke his right ankle and dislocated at AT & T Stadium last October. Mark 143.3 defeated NFC East rival Philadelphia 41-21 on Monday night.
The Cowboys (2-1) lead the division in the second of three consecutive home games against Carolina (3-0) on Sunday. And they prove Prescott’s theory that clubs are in better shape when Prescott does not need to throw more than 400 yards and more than 50 times.
After losing Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay 31-29 in the opening round, Prescott threw more than 400 yards in four consecutive games back before his injury. The Cowboys were 1-3 in those games.
With the Los Angeles Chargers and Eagles winning, Prescott threw a total of 475 yards, but the Cowboys averaged 179 yards after finishing just 60 against the Buccaneers.
Two-time rush champion Ezekiel Elliott made two touchdowns to the season’s best 95 yards and the Eagles.
“I think it starts with a duck and he’s doing a great job at our tempo in the attack,” said lightguard Zack Martin. “We go in and out of the chat quickly. You may feel a little, but we know that the defense is really under pressure.”
What is working
After spending most of last season at or near the bottom of the sales margin, the Cowboys are tied to the best New Orleans with a plus five. Dallas leads the NFL with eight takeouts highlighted by Trevon Diggs’ 59-yard intercept return for a touchdown from Jalen Hearts in Philadelphia. Stefon Diggs, the receiver of Diggs’ brother All-Pro Buffalo, was in the game. “I know he was really excited,” Diggs said. “He said,’I want you to get an intercept and record the touchdown.'”
What you need help with
Match management in the first and second half has already been a problem for Mike McCarthy twice this season. The latest was to run most of the last two minutes without using one or both of the remaining timeouts after the Eagles finished second and 31st and the Cowboys led 20-7. rice field. Philadelphia scored 19 yards in Third and 24 and punted to Dallas’ 11-yard line with 11 seconds remaining.
“The decision was to take the lead into half-time,” McCarthy said. “Given where the ball is, I was comfortable.”
In the opening round, the Cowboys attempted an unadvised 60-yard field goal in the last few seconds of the first half, after kicker Greg Zuerlein missed almost all of the preseason. Tom Brady and Bucks couldn’t change a decent chance to steal 3 points.
DT Osa Odighizuwa was the first Dallas sack to win at least 11/2 sack in the game since Maliek Collins made two appearances against Cleveland in 2016. Fellow rookie drafted as a linebacker and pick Micah Parsons in the first round played almost defensive end in two consecutive games, sharing a second sack with a former UCLA player. Parsons had his first career sack against the Chargers last week, and Odigizwa had his first against the Eagles.
LG Connor Williams was asked to hold three times, including two on a drive that ended with a touchdown anyway. C Tyler Biadas also had some problems. The biggest problem is when I couldn’t get the push needed for Prescott’s force down sneak from the inside of the first half.
According to McCarthy, the Cowboys got out of the game without injury. The coach said S Donovan Wilson was likely to miss his third consecutive match against Carolina due to an inguinal problem. Dallas lacked at least one player because all three games have the COVID-19 protocol. Two people who failed to play in the Philadelphia match, LB Kianunir and DE Bradley Anae, also have problems with Carolina.
The 7-Cowboys have been forced to make at least two turnovers in seven consecutive games back last season. This is the NFL’s longest and most active winning streak and the sixth best performer in the club since the 1970 merger.
The Cowboys face the league’s top defense unit against Carolina after having little trouble moving the ball in the fourth attack against the NFL’s fourth-place defense. The Panthers are 3-0 for the first time since 2015, when the 14-0 start at Thanksgiving Cowboys included an explosive victory.
