The district attorney decides whether to prosecute Britney Spears after she has been accused of assaulting a housekeeper.
Earlier this month, a longtime employee of Spears accused the pop star of tapping the phone from her hand during a quarrel.
Spear’s lawyer called the housekeeper’s allegations “sensational tabloid feed,” and said the alleged case was “no blows or apparent injuries to mobile phones.”
“Anyone can accuse,” the statement continued. “This should have been closed immediately.”
The investigation of the claim by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office was handed over to the district attorney who decided whether to prosecute Spears.
In August, Spears’ father, Jamie, was reported to have agreed to resign from his role of overseeing his daughter’s adult guardianship “when the time comes.”
Spears has recently campaigned to free her from managing her professional and personal affairs.
She specifically accused her father of “ruining” her life and expressed her desire to sue family members.
