In a spectacular display of batting prowess, Team India’s opener Shubman Gill continued his remarkable ODI journey by notching up yet another century in the thrilling second ODI clash against Australia, held in Indore this past Sunday.

The Australian skipper, Steve Smith, won the crucial toss and elected to field first on what appeared to be a promising batting track. The visitors got off to a solid start when Josh Hazlewood managed to dismiss Ruturaj Gaikwad early on, providing Australia with an early breakthrough. Following his partner’s departure, Shubman Gill adopted a patient approach, taking his time to settle in.

Shreyas Iyer, on the other hand, opted for an aggressive strategy, consistently finding the boundary to maintain a healthy run rate and allowing Gill to build his innings. The turning point came when Gill unleashed a mighty six, clearing the long-on boundary, off the very first ball of the ninth over.

From that moment, Gill embarked on a batting rampage, relentlessly punishing the bowlers with a barrage of boundaries and towering sixes, ultimately securing his sixth ODI century. Impressively, this marked his fifth century in the current calendar year. Gill’s electrifying innings of 104 runs off 97 deliveries featured four colossal sixes and six elegant boundaries. Unfortunately, his innings came to an end in the 35th over while attempting another massive shot.
