‘Can’t believe I still get work’

Former New Zealand international Simon Doull came up with an apt reply for a netizen, who tried to troll him. On Friday (May 13), Doull took to Twitter and shared a screenshot of an unpleasant message he received on Instagram. The social media user took a dig at the former bowler’s commentary skills, calling him the ‘worst commentator of all time.’

Doull, who’s currently serving in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 as a broadcaster, decided to hit back at the netizen with a sarcastic response. The 52-year-old stated the fact that he’s getting regular assignments despite being ‘so bad’ at his work. He also slammed the Instagram user for putting the story through a fake account instead of a real one. Fans were highly impressed with Doull’s calm response as the comment section got flooded with praises.

“Hmmm. Should I accept or block. Can’t believe I still get work if I am so bad. Hope your amazing at your job who ever you are. Maybe come out from hiding behind a fake name and we can have a chat about our jobs,” read Doull’s tweet.

Cricket stars getting trolled is not a thing of new and this issue has garnered limelight in the past as well. Besides players, the coaches, board members and like Doull, several commentators have also faced heat on social media. While some refrain from reacting to these harsh messages, others don’t hold back.

Meanwhile, we are in the business end of IPL 2022 and the race for the playoffs has intensified. So far, only Gujarat Titans have officially secured a place in the final four while Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians are knocked out of the race. Hence, seven teams are in contention to take three slots and only time would tell what the final points table would look like.

Notably, 61 of the 70 league-stage games are already done and dusted. Hence, teams must buckle up to put up a fine show in their remaining games.
