The Los Angeles Chargers are aiming for a fourth straight win over Dallas when hosting the Cowboys on Sunday. Dallas’ Dak Prescott has thrown at least 400 yards in the last four games that ended back at the beginning of last season, but the Cowboys are 1-3 in those games.
The Chargers QB Justin Herbert has nine 300-yard games, has more than 400 completions in his first 16 games, and is the only passerby in NFL history to throw more than 4,500 yards.
Cowboys players see:
RB Ezekiel Elliott didn’t often see the ball out of his career at the opener. Last season it was as low as 979 yards. The 2016 Allpro and two-time Rush Champion had 11 carries at 33 yards against last year’s # 1 Rand Defense. The Cowboys seemed little interested in trying to run, but QB Dak Prescott changed 12 of the 28 run calls to a pass.
Chargers Player to Watch:
QB Justin Herbert completed 31 out of 47 passes at 337 yards last week, marking the ninth 300-yard match with 16 starts, so the new offense seemed comfortable to run. He has also completed more than 400 finishes in NFL history, making him the only passerby tossing more than 4,500 yards in the first 16 games.
Los Angeles OT Rashon Slater vs Cowboys DE Drance Armstrong and Tarrel Basham. Slater didn’t allow pressure at his first NFL start last week. After facing Washington’s Chase Young and Montez Sweat, Slater will face the Cowboys’ defensive line, which lacks starters Demarcus Lawrence and Randy Gregory. Lawrence actually broke his leg on Wednesday and could go out until November. Gregory was COVID-19 positive. Coach Mike McCarthy didn’t hear optimistic about Gregory before the first practice of the week.
The Cowboys were struck by an injury. In addition to Lawrence and Gregory, WR Michael Gallup has been on the disabled list for at least three weeks after straining the calf muscles in the opener, and S Donovan Wilson starts the week due to an inguinal injury. I wasn’t practicing for it. Four All-Pro OG Zack Martin missed the opener after a positive test. The Chargers’ RT Bryan Bulaga (base of the leg / back) and S Nasir Adaray (base of the leg) appear to be suspicious after being injured last week. S Darwin James (toes) didn’t practice on Wednesday, but he wasn’t expected to miss any time.
The Chargers aim to win the Dallas four straight games after the Cowboys win six of the first eight.
Los Angeles has won an average of 11.3 points in the last three games.
The Cowboys’ recent victory over the Chargers was 28-24 in the opening round of 2005 in San Diego.
Los Angeles won 515 yards in the 2017 Thanksgiving match. In this match, Keenan Allen touched down and scored 172 yards in 11 catches. This is the most common player reception for Thanksgiving cowboys.
