Chicago shooting: Fallon Harris charged with murder of 12-year-old son in South Chicago, prosecutors say

From Chicago-A woman charged with shooting her 12-year-old son at her home in the South Chicago area on Saturday was ordered to be detained on Sunday without bail.

Fallon Harris, 37, was charged with one murder for his son’s death on 8,000 blocks on South Bennett Avenue, officials said.

According to Cook County lawyer Eugene Wood, Harris confronted the boy about the whereabouts of the digital memory card she had removed from her car the night before at around 10:15 on Saturday morning.

She shot him after she couldn’t make a memory card when her mother pointed her gun at him and asked for a memory card, Wood said on Sunday during Harris’s first court appearance.

Police said witnesses found the boy unresponsive with a gunshot wound on his head around 10:30 am. He was declared dead on the scene.

According to police, Harris was detained shortly after the shooting, which appeared to be a case of domestic violence.

A lawyer appointed in Harris’s court described her client as a lifetime Cook County resident who had worked as a city worker “for some time.”

The judge ordered Harris to be detained without bail. She will appear in court next Monday. The judge also signed a medical order permitting Harris’s assessment.
