The Dallas Independent School District offers cash incentives for both COVID-19 vaccinated teachers and students.
This district is one of the first, if not the first, districts in Texas to give students over the age of 12 a cash incentive to voluntarily vaccinate. The district said it would give fully vaccinated students a $ 50 gift card that could be used like cash.
Students wishing to receive an incentive must have their parents fill out a vaccination certificate form and submit it by November 15th. Learn more about the district regarding student incentives.
As of Friday, September 10, the latest date for which data were available, the district reported 1,437 confirmed COVID-19 cases among students and an additional 621 cases among staff. .. The district enforces Maskmandate, despite being banned by the Governor and his executive order banning such mitigation efforts. By Friday, Dallas ISD had more than 140,000 students with an infection rate of less than 1%. Several other large districts, such as Frisco and Arlington, have less than half of the Dallas ISD student population, with hundreds of reported infections among students and high infection rates-Frisco ( 2.64%) and Arlington (2.9%). Neither Arlington ISD nor Frisco ISD have a Maskman Date.
The Dallas ISD has previously stated that it will pay teachers and employees in other districts an even greater incentive ($ 500) for those who have been fully vaccinated with COVID-19.
Staff wishing to receive incentives must complete the vaccine certification form and submit it by November 15. The $ 500 payment will be included in future salaries scheduled within 45 days.
