Keeping in mind the increasing coronovirus cases, the Delhi government has decided to set up 500 ICU beds at the historic Ramlila ground for treatment of Kovid patients. The facility will be ready in the month of May, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said here on Tuesday.
CM on Tuesday visited two major government hospitals in Delhi – Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital (GTBH) and LNJP Hospital. He said, “We are building a 500-bed ICU facility at Ramlila Maidan right in front of LNJP Hospital. This facility is being built for Kovid patients only and will be ready soon.” Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain was also present with the Chief Minister during the visit.
He also visited GTB Hospital in East Delhi on Tuesday morning. He said that 500 ICU beds are also being prepared here. He said that this temporary facility is expected to be completed by 5 May.
In view of the growing Kovid cases in Delhi, the government has also decided to set up a 1000-bed temporary facility at Bari Maidan for the treatment of Kovid patients. Kejriwal said that oxygen will also be given to patients in this temporary facility.
The positivity rate in Delhi has risen to over 35 percent, with a record 380 deaths due to the disease in the last 24 hours. A total of 1,435 people have died due to the virus in the last 4 days in Delhi.
