If Tyson Fury turns to promotion, he needs to learn one or two things. In his efforts to undermine Deontay Wilder’s credibility, which he claims has only exercised his right to fight for the third time “for the wrong reason,” the British heavyweights are best to assemble this as a no contest. I did my best.
The truth is a little more subtle. Their first meeting ended with a contested draw, and the second ended with a TKO in the seventh round of the Bronze Trousers Bar. Most fans would have seen it as definitive proof of Fury’s excellent technique, and in fact his definitive proof of being at the top of the rankings.
Still, if you have a question about the quality of the undercard, there should be little problem selling the decision maker.
It will inevitably draw a comparison with the great lineup before Oleksandr Usyk’s points beat Anthony Joshua two weeks ago. It featured Callum Smith’s return after losing to Canelo Alvarez and WBO cruiserweight champion Lawrence O’Cally.
The highlight of the Fury vs Wilder 3 card is a trio of heavyweight clashes.Jared Anderson had to wait for a confirmed opponent, but now he takes on Vladimir Tereshkin He has more than 8 rounds to maintain an undefeated record.
British boxing fans will also be intrigued by Robert Helenius’ rematch with Adam Kovnacki. The Finns lost to Dillian Whyte in 2017 after defeating Michael Sprott unanimously two years later in a (controversial) split decision to split Derek Chisora in 2011.
Kovnacki, who lost his undefeated record against Helenius, has promised to be more cautious this time after losing his last TKO.
Undefeated Frank Sanchez with a perfect record of 18-0 (13 by KO) also appeared on the main card against Efe Ajagba, and Marcelo Esteban Coceres, who was knocked out by Billy Joe Saunders in 2019, is super middleweight. Step up to the class against the rising star Edgar Berlanga.
