Health Minister Sajid Javid has unveiled the government’s plans for how to tackle the Covid-19 pandemic this winter.
This includes face masks that are re-recommended in public indoor environments, and emergency measures that allow you to see your home advice come back with the introduction of your vaccine passport.
The Minister of Health’s statement on Tuesday, September 14, preceded a speech aired by Prime Minister Boris Johnson late in the afternoon. Here’s everything you need to know about your plans.
What is Face Mask Guidance?
Javid said this winter, people should “wear face masks in a crowded, closed space where they come into contact with people they don’t usually meet.”
This was ridiculed by some backbench conservatives. He added that under the government’s “Plan B”, masks could become mandatory again in the event of a surge in incidents.
“Responsible governments need to be prepared for all contingencies. These measures aren’t what everyone wants, but they need to be prepared just in case,” he said.
The Minister of Health also said that people should try to meet outdoors as much as possible, and if they meet indoors, they need to make sure that the space is well ventilated.
How does Booster Jab work?
Booster vaccines will be available to people over the age of 50, caregivers, and front-line medical and social workers starting next week.
All clinically very vulnerable individuals, as well as those aged 16-65 years in the Covid-risk group (included in priority groups 1-9 at the time of initial vaccine deployment), are also eligible for jab.
The Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine is used as a booster for about 30 million people, and experts say it is safe to administer with regular winter flu jabs.
This also applies to people who have been vaccinated with different vaccines in the first two appointments.
People can be vaccinated against Covid and the flu on the same day. It is recommended to inoculate each arm once if possible.
Do you have a vaccine passport in the UK?
Vaccine passports (seeing people who need to show vaccination proof or negative tests to enter a big venue like a nightclub) have not been introduced so far, but in the government’s “Plan B” It is one of the emergency measures included.
The prime minister said on Monday that the government would avoid introducing vaccine passports “if possible,” but added that it would be an option to keep them “in reserve.”
He added that “everything right to protect the country” would be done.
Can the school be closed?
The health minister said the government would remove more authority, but retain some that it considers “essential” to respond to a pandemic.
He told the MP: “This includes the revocation of the authority of the Coronavirus Act. So, for example, those authorities that direct the temporary closure of educational institutions.”
This means that the school will appear to remain open throughout the winter.
How about working from home?
The government can advise people to work from home in the event of a surge in winter incidents.
This is also part of “Plan B” and will only be introduced if the government deems it necessary.
Is there another blockade?
The Minister of Health did not mention another blockade, and government figures previously claimed that this would be an absolute last resort.
Senior government scientist said earlier Me The government has developed an emergency response plan for the October “firebreak” closure in case hospitalization continues at current levels and threatens to overload the NHS.
But last week, the Minister of Health said, “I don’t think that’s something we need to consider.”
On Monday morning, Professor Niall Ferguson, who modeled what helped Britain enter the blockade in March 2020, was asked if further blockages could be eliminated altogether.
He said, “I hope so,” but added, “Nothing can be completely ruled out.”
Regarding maintaining certain Covid-related privileges, Javid told the MP: For example, we make sure that the NHS is well funded and help pay for statutory illnesses to independent people, “said Javid.
“The plan in front of today’s house is our” Plan A “-a comprehensive plan to pilot the country throughout the fall and winter. “
