This recall revealed a sort of paradox among Californians. We value the ability to bring elected leaders back from work, but we believe there are serious flaws in the process of doing so. Over the last few weeks, there has been a growing call for reforms in state recall legislation.
As of July, two-thirds of Californians believed that process changes were ripe, according to a poll by the California Institute of Public Policy.
But changing it is a difficult two-step process that involves amending the State Constitution.
