According to officials, the Incident Corridor Management System will be activated every night to ensure smoother flow of traffic along the detour route by increasing the duration of green lights.
On Friday morning, the NCDOT plans to implement a new traffic shift for eastbound drivers in Henderson County. Traffic will be redirected to a section of the new interstate from the current arrangement, with the vehicles now traveling in the median. Additionally, a new temporary exit ramp for Exit 49A (U.S. 64 West) leading to downtown Hendersonville will also become operational.
Transportation authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, remain vigilant, and follow all signboards, especially when approaching or driving through the work zone.
