Season 4 the walking Dead, Darryl is separated from the group and reluctantly joins a new band of predators led by a man named Joe.
Hey, Joe. Where are you going with the gun in your hand?
I didn’t know at the time, but these guys were called The Claimers. walking Dead Every group needs its own band name. Claimants, whispers, saviors, and now reapers.
The Reapers are very similar to the Kramers, but more enthusiastic and violent. .. .. It’s ridiculous. And they wear stupid masks and attack the people in front of them.
Their leader is named Pope, and he seems to be a religiously enthusiastic version of Negan. He even threw one of his Henchman into the fire as Negan, like a doctor, fled the battle with a poor man. Because it really creates a well-thought-out villain. They had the courage to retreat, so they threw one of their only fighters into the fire.
If there was a decent choreography in the battle scene of last week’s episode, this would all work. It may not be. In any case, these new reapers aren’t that new or original. The same new villain as the old villain. Fresh coat of paint.
Darryl and rear sitting on a tree
Much consists of a reunion with Darryl and his long-lost love, Leah. Leah was included in one of the previous episodes that many viewers probably skipped, as it was just a “bonus” episode connecting seasons 10 and 11. In essence, but nothing to fill.
Leah was the “me” character of the episode, and the romance was nothing. Darryl says, “I’ve never lied to you, Leah. I’m not trying to get started now,” it feels empty and frustrating. If this was an established character (if Carol somehow became a grim reaper in the last two seasons), everything that comes next has teeth.
Instead walking Dead Whatever the dentures in the story that have been misplaced in the last few seasons, gnawing us with the gums. Who cares about the rear? Why should we do it when it’s obviously not Darryl? She lets him talk and he gets her on board. She wants him to be in the Pope’s Veterans cult and it works: their room is on fire, and Darryl thinks he has to save Leah, but she I’m working on it. Miraculously he can break the glass window and escape. Because obviously such an obvious solution is immediately wonderful and courageous.
He is now one of them, not a claimant or grim reaper, but more reclaimers and repeaters.
Why are we still doing this same stupid clap?
Exciting that this episode might have had due to the fact that 99% of the characters are new, disposable and essentially irrelevant, and one important person in the equation has plot armor as thick as Redwood. Whatever the moment of tension or tension, all gravity was taken away. Darryl would be okay, and we know it, and at best it makes our connection to such an unstable episode.
What’s missing this season, at least so far, is true danger and high stakes. This is the final season of the whole show, but I feel it’s completely safe in a way that was never felt in previous seasons. Any tension we encounter is too unnatural, predictable and not so important. Oh, are they waterboarding Darryl? Yeah, he’ll be fine. He and Carol are spinning off! It looks like WandaVision, but it’s worse.
Introducing and counting new villains later in the game requires a level of skill that is clearly lacking in current show writers and producers. Both the Reapers and the Commonwealth (more on that next week) feel like cartoons. This shortcoming becomes even more apparent after 1.5 seasons of the horribly incredible Whisperer.
Can you at least try to regain a sense of realism? Perhaps it was the gritty, realistic, character-driven television show about Zombie Apocalypse that made this show so popular in the first place.
My little sliver thinks: “Hey, why don’t you jump the shark completely at this point? Fear the Walking Dead Bring a nuclear weapon or something. “
Or come up with some new conflicts that don’t feel like a better (or at least older) seasonal rehash.
