MS Dhoni made two catches against Kolkata Knight Riders to reach the milestone.© IPL
Mahendra Singhoni on Sunday achieved a major milestone as he caught twice behind the stump during a team match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Doni has become a wicket keeper with most of his name’s catches in the Indian Premier League, porching the catches of KKR openers Bencatesh Ayer and Dinesh Cartik. What was quite coincidental was the fact that by dismissing the former KKR captain himself, Doni broke the carsic record for most catches by the IPL keeper. Compared to Karthik’s 115, Dhoni currently has 116 catches at IPL.
Karthik had a chance to rival or regain his record during CSK’s innings, but not because Catch didn’t come his way. KKR was looking for a course to win the match, but the slow prosperity of Ravindra Jadeya from Yanagi changed the match in favor of CSK. Jadeja hit Prasidh Krishna with two large 6s and two boundaries on the 19th, returning the team to the fight again.
Sunil Narine had a great final to extend the contest to the final delivery, but Deepak Chahar won the team as CSK won two wickets in yet another thrilling IPL contest. I returned to my home.
Doni also holds the record for the most stamping (39) by the IPL wicket keeper and the record for the most overall dismissals (155) by the league keeper. Karthik came in second with a total of 146 dismissals.
No other wicket keeper has more than 100 severances at IPL, and Robin Utappa is in third place with 90 severances.
