Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) performed clinically in Match 31 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 on Monday, beating the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) with 9 wickets. The victory put RKR back in the top four races and the RCB’s net run rate was hit after a big defeat. On Tuesday, Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals will face each other in person, and the winner of the contest will level up with Mumbai Indians by 8 points.
IPL point table
KKR’s big win helped him move up to 5th place on the points table. This was just the third victory in the ongoing IPL2021.
The RCB remains in third place, but the net run rate was hit as KKR chased a 93-run target with 10 overs.
CSK, who defeated defending champion Mumbai Indians on Sunday, leads the points table with 12 points.
Delhi Capitals also scored 12 points in eight games, but is behind CSK due to its low net run rate.
Mumbai Indians are in 4th place, and Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings are in 6th and 7th place.
Sunrisers Hyderabad is suffering from the bottom with one win out of seven IPL 2021 games.
Orange cap lace
The low-scoring encounter in Abu Dhabi on Monday meant that the list of IPL’s highest scorers this year hasn’t changed significantly.
Shikhar Dhawan leads the Orange Cap race with 380 runs in eight games. Meanwhile, KL Rahul (331) and Faf Dupresis (320) are second and third on the list.
Purple cap lace
Varun Chakravarthy and Andre Russell each picked up three wickets, and so far in the tournament both have been tied with 10 wickets each at the fifth spot.
RCB’s Hershall Patel holds a purple cap in 17 wickets in eight games.
Abesh Khan of Delhi Capitals and Chris Morris of Rajasthan Royals are so far second in IPL2021 with 14 wickets each.
