The Fast and Furious franchise has had a star-studded cast, featuring names like Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, Rita Moreno, and Jason Momoa. Now, Vin Diesel, who plays the protagonist Dom Toretto, has a new name in mind to join the family: Robert Downey Jr.
At the Fast X trailer premiere on Thursday night, when asked by Variety about his dream casting, Diesel immediately gave RDJ’s name. When asked about the character RDJ would play, Diesel revealed, “Without telling you too much about what happens in the future, there’s a character who is the antithesis of Dom who is promoting AI and driverless cars and a philosophy that with that goes your freedom. There is somebody that believes that’s the future, and that’s at direct odds with the Toretto mentality.”

However, when asked if he had pitched RDJ the role yet, Diesel became coy, growling in a playful yet menacing tone, “How dare you ask me this question in front of all these people? I have pride and I have dignity.”
Diesel’s co-star Michelle Rodriguez also had her say on the red carpet about who she would like to see in the final Fast and Furious film. Rodriguez expressed her desire to see Matt Damon, stating, “Who’s the guy from these amazing ‘Jason Bourne’ movies? Matt Damon! I f***ing want Matt Damon. Matt Damon, would you be in a ‘Fast and Furious’ movie? C’mon, we got four Oscar winners, man. And you’re an Oscar winner!”
Fast X also stars a wide range of talented actors, including Jason Statham, Tyrese Gibson, Chris ‘Ludacris’ Bridges, John Cena, Jordana Brewster, Brie Larson, Nathalie Emmanuel, Sung Kang, Scott Eastwood, Michael Rooker, Daniela Melchior, Alan Ritchson, and Cardi B. With such a talented ensemble, the film promises to be an action-packed thrill ride, full of excitement and fast cars. Whether RDJ or Damon will be joining the cast remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure: the Fast and Furious franchise shows no signs of slowing down.
