It’s been over a year since the dramatic events of Season 5 of “Love Is Blind” concluded, and Netflix decided to gather the cast for a reunion special that certainly did not disappoint. Hosted by the ever-charming Nick and Vanessa Lachey, the reunion brought back memories, sparks, and even some unexpected confessions.
‘Love Is Blind’ Reunion
Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson
As the familiar faces of Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson gathered with the other singles from their season, including Johnie Maraist, Chris Fox, Stacy Snyder, Izzy Zapata Jr., Taylor Rue, JP Pierce, and Aaliyah Cosby, there was one notable absence. Uche Okoroha, who was invited, chose not to attend, leaving fans to wonder what could have been.
The reunion began with some playful banter from the hosts, addressing some of the quirks of the season. Nick Lachey couldn’t resist poking fun at JP Pierce, who managed to charm his way into an engagement and then seemingly disappeared from the conversation.
Johnie Maraist and Chris Fox
But the real shocker of the night came when Chris Fox admitted to cheating on his former fiancée, Johnie Maraist. This revelation came as a surprise, especially after Chris had ardently defended Johnie during the season. When Vanessa questioned him about this betrayal, Chris didn’t hold back, admitting, “Apparently yes.”
While the drama between Chris and Johnie unfolded, the other couples and singles provided updates on their lives.
Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson, the married couple from the season, appeared happier than ever. Over the past 18 months, they celebrated another wedding in Puerto Rico, and Lydia grew closer to Milton’s mother.
Unfortunately, Johnie Maraist and Chris Fox’s love story didn’t have a happy ending. After the season’s party in Houston, Chris cheated on Johnie, ending their relationship. Later, Johnie and Izzy crossed paths at a bar, where they shared a kiss but quickly realized they weren’t a good match. Both Johnie and Chris have moved on and are now dating other people.
Stacy Snyder and Izzy Zapata Jr
Stacy Snyder and Izzy Zapata Jr. shared an interesting twist. Stacy wanted to say yes at the altar but didn’t feel they were ready. After their wedding, they spent a year apart, not speaking to each other. However, fate brought them back together when they coincidentally bumped into each other at a bar. Now, they are close friends and have even ended up in the same cooking class while on separate dates.
Aaliyah Cosby had some revelations of her own. She revealed that she and Uche Okoroha had attempted to date after their time in the pods but that Uche had told others that she wasn’t his usual type. Aaliyah described him as mean and condescending, and she was shocked by some of the scenes she witnessed on the show. Aaliyah and Lydia claimed that Uche had reached out to both of them on premiere day, offering to discuss things. However, Uche’s overtures went unanswered.
Aaliyah expressed the belief that the producers should have allowed Lydia and Uche to share their history. Lydia admitted to a brief conversation with Uche about the “Love Is Blind” casting announcement but denied knowing he was going on the show or wishing for him to. Milton added that Uche had been obsessed with his relationship with Lydia. Aaliyah has since moved on and is in a new relationship with a man she met on a cruise.
As for Taylor Rue and JP Pierce, the reunion was their first encounter since the getaways. They addressed the makeup comment that had stirred controversy during the season. JP clarified that he meant Taylor was beautiful without makeup, but Taylor remained skeptical, expressing doubt about JP’s attraction to her.
JP admitted that Taylor’s initial appearance was “a little shocking and off-putting” and came across as “fake.” Both have moved on and are now seeing other people.
The “Love Is Blind” reunion certainly provided a mix of surprises, drama, and heartwarming moments, reminding fans why the show continues to captivate audiences with its unique blend of romance and reality TV intrigue. It’s safe to say that the reunion episode was anything but blind to the compelling stories of its cast members.
