- Zomato will not be allowed to violate traffic rules: Narottam Mishra
Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra has said that the new facility of food delivery company Zomato promises delivery of food within 10 minutes, which endangers the lives of the deliverers and people on the roads and prompt delivery to the company. Plans have been asked to change.
Talking to reporters on Friday, Mishra said that Zomato will not be allowed to violate traffic rules and the company will be held responsible for accidents and violation of traffic rules during the immediate delivery process.
“Zomato’s plan to deliver food in 10 minutes is like playing with the lives of its employees (delivery partners) as well as others. Except Zomato, no one is allowed to violate traffic rules in Madhya Pradesh I am encouraging Zomato to change these plans,” said Mishra.
He added that food-delivered persons can reach the destination “by driving quickly and dangerously” within just 10 minutes.
“The company will be responsible for any accident and violation of rules,” the home minister said.
Zomato founder Deepinder Goyal on Monday announced the company’s plan to launch a pilot of ‘Zomato Instant’ with four stations in Gurugram from April.
Amid criticism of the new facility, the online food delivery platform on Tuesday clarified that there is no penalty for late delivery and no incentive for on-time delivery for 10 minutes and 30 minutes deliveries.
Goyal had said in several tweets that the 10-minute delivery would be for specific nearby locations, only popular and standardized menus.
