Manchester City will miss Ferran Torres for a few weeks after the Spanish forward broke his leg on an international mission. Torres is believed to have been injured when he defeated Italy in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals of Spain. The 21-year-old was declared worthy of the final defeat of the Nations League against France, but was sent off in Milan on Sunday in the second half. “Ferran Torres suffered an injury to his right leg during an international mission,” the city said in a statement.
“City Forward, who defeated Italy twice in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals in Spain and started the final against France, suffered a minor fracture.
“He has since returned to Manchester for testing and will continue to be monitored.”
Subsequent tests reveal the extent of Torres’ injury and may force him from a period of significant testing in both the club and the country.
In the coming weeks, Premier League champion Citi will face Manchester Derby at Old Trafford, and the Champions League match will face Bruges and Paris Saint-Germain.
Spain will play World Cup qualifiers against Greece and Sweden next month.
