Michael Rakowitz, 47, winner of the 2020 Winner Nasher Prize, hosted the award winning Nasher Prize on Friday, April 16 from 12 noon.
The award is an international award for living iconic sculptors, based out of the Nashor Sculpture Center located in the Dallas Art District.
This year’s award jury chose the New York native due to the complexity of displaying the most complex questions of his art, history, heritage, and identity.
“Michael’s work is about healing and how to take the problem of cultural destruction and turn it into a resource for a very optimistic vision of rebuilding our society,” said the Nusser Prize juror Caroline Kristov-Bakargive.
As the five-year tradition continues, the basis of Rackowitz’s virtual lecture will center on the question: “If I can’t be with you, how can I show you where I am?”
Rakowitz will explain his art in its finest detail and explain the importance of each detail about him.
