Cleveland, OH – In a devastating turn of events during Monday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns’ star running back Nick Chubb suffered a significant knee injury, casting doubt on his availability for the remainder of the 2023 NFL season.
The incident occurred during the second quarter of the game when Chubb embarked on a 5-yard run, bringing the Browns tantalizingly close to the Steelers’ 3-yard line. In a cruel twist of fate, Chubb’s legs buckled awkwardly underneath him as he was tackled, leading to immediate concerns about the severity of the injury.
Following the game, Browns’ head coach Kevin Stefanski addressed the press and confirmed their worst fears, stating, “I do,” when asked if he anticipated Chubb missing the remainder of the season due to the injury.
Chubb was promptly ruled out for the game and was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. He later returned to Cleveland ahead of the team, underlining the seriousness of the injury.

On the same play, Pittsburgh’s All-Pro safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who had assisted in tackling Chubb, also sustained an injury but initially returned to the field. However, Fitzpatrick was later ruled out after suffering a chest injury in the third quarter.
Chubb had been having a stellar game, already amassing 64 yards on 10 carries before the injury. Jerome Ford stepped in as his replacement and made an immediate impact, catching a touchdown pass on the following play and ultimately accumulating 106 rushing yards and three receptions for 25 yards.
As Chubb was loaded onto a cart and taken off the field, players from both teams gathered around, showing their support for the injured star.
This injury to Chubb’s left knee is particularly concerning, as it’s the same knee that underwent reconstruction following a severe injury sustained while he was playing for the University of Georgia in 2015. The previous injury had involved damage to the MCL, PCL, and LCL ligaments.
The Cleveland Browns will now face the challenging task of navigating the rest of the season without one of their most valuable offensive weapons. Chubb’s absence will undoubtedly be felt, and fans will anxiously await updates on his recovery and potential return.
