Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said on Saturday that in the last seven days, no new case of COVID-19 has been reported in 180 districts of the country and no fresh infection has been reported in 18 districts.
“For the last 7 days, not a single new case of COVID-19 has been seen in 180 districts of the country. In the last 14 days, 18 districts have not registered any case. In the last 21 days, no new cases have been seen in 54 districts. , ”The Union Health Minister said here today.
According to the Union Health Ministry, India reported 4,01,078 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The total number of cases in the country now stands at 2,18,92,676. India registered 3,18,609 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 1,79,30,960.
After the death of 4,187 people in the last 24 hours, the death toll in the country has risen to 2,38,270. Currently, there are 37,23,446 active coronavirus cases in India. As of May 7, 16,73,46,544 vaccination doses were administered in the country.
In other news, expressing concern over the growing COVID-19 cases on Saturday, merchant associations across Delhi have demanded an extension of the Delhi bandh by 17 May.
The traders’ unions wrote to Lt Governor Anil Baijal and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday and suggested extending the lockdown by 17 May. During a meeting called by the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), some trade unions took the decision. To go for a voluntary lockout in their areas for the next week.
