It occurred around 11:00 am on the 29900 block of Post-Ochran near the High Meadow Ranch Drive south of Magnolia.
A man on the scene said he was the son of a pilot, who lost power on one of the engines and was flying when he began looking for a place to land the aircraft.
The man said the second engine on board the aircraft broke down when he descended. That’s when the aircraft hits a tree before it hits the ground.
The pilot hit his head, but his son said he was able to leave the incident.
Soldiers in Texas DPS were handling an investigation into the cause of an engine failure.
Meanwhile, the crew was called on another aircraft allegedly having problems over Montgomery County.
Dispatchers reported receiving multiple calls early Sunday afternoon for smoke from aircraft flying in the area of Trelolane outside Willis.
DPS officials later confirmed that the second aircraft was not down. Authorities said they had found a burn near the airport.
