A shooting near Arlington Sam Houston High School injured one person on Monday afternoon, temporarily locking out three nearby schools.
Arlington police said they were informed that someone had heard a gunshot at around 1:20 pm along Sherry Lane, not far from the three schools of Sam Houston High School and Adams and Asserton Elementary School.
The officer who answered the call did not find the victim at first, but found a car with a hole in the ammunition about 300 feet from high school.
Police said at around 2:30 pm, shooting victims appeared at a local hospital and police were gathering information.
The identity and condition of the victim has not yet been confirmed. Also, it is not clear whether the shootings were random or the victims were targeted.
The district confirmed that the high school and two elementary schools were placed in a temporary lockout around 1:30 pm due to local police activities. According to the district, lockout is when the school continues as usual inside the building, but the doors are locked to prevent potential threats outside the building.Lockout was released around 3:20 pm
Police said they had not arrested or identified the shooter.
