Progressive Customer Service
Progressive and Allstate are tied at No. 8 in the subcategory of customer service. According to the survey, 47% of respondents expressed complete satisfaction with the ease of contacting Progressive’s customer service department. However, the percentage drops slightly to 46% for those who reported being completely satisfied with the customer service they received.
On a positive note, the numbers improve for respondents who had filed a claim with Progressive. Among this group, the percentage of those who were completely satisfied with both how easy it was to reach customer service and with the customer service provided increased to 55%.
Progressive Claims Handling
In our analysis, Progressive, Travelers, and Allstate are tied at No. 7 when it comes to resolving claims, based on a combination of survey responses and other sources.
Regarding the ease of filing a claim, 52% of respondents reported being completely satisfied with the process. As for updates on their claims, 48% expressed complete satisfaction with the status updates provided. Finally, 54% of respondents said they were completely satisfied with how their claims were ultimately resolved.
Progressive Customer Loyalty
When asked if they would recommend Progressive to someone seeking auto insurance, 40% of survey respondents said they were very likely to do so. However, when asked about the likelihood of renewing their Progressive car insurance, 55% of respondents said they were very likely to renew.
Among respondents who had filed a claim with Progressive, 42% stated that they were highly likely to recommend Progressive to someone looking for auto insurance. Additionally, more than half (51%) of the respondents expressed their intention to renew their Progressive car insurance.
How Much Is Progressive Car Insurance?
When looking at Progressive’s national average rate, it’s almost exactly the same as the overall national average; just $7 separates the two. Its average annual rates are higher than the national average for teen drivers but lower for senior drivers. Also, Progressive’s rates are higher than the national average for drivers with one accident on their record, but lower for drivers with one DUI.
Progressive Rates for Teen Drivers
Progressive’s sample rate for car insurance is significantly higher than the national average for both female and male teen drivers. It is $2,693 more per year for female teens and $2,775 more for male teens compared to the national average. When compared to USAA, which offers the cheapest rates but is exclusive to the U.S. military community, Progressive’s rates are much higher. For female teens, it is over $4,600 more expensive, and for male teens, it is more than $5,100 higher.
Among the insurance providers available to the general public, Progressive has the second-highest rates for this category, with Farmers being the most expensive. Farmers’ rates are over $400 higher than Progressive for female teens and nearly $400 higher for male teens.
For those looking to insure a teen driver, other options to consider are State Farm and Geico. State Farm has the second-lowest rates in the study for female teenage drivers, while Geico offers the second-cheapest rates for male teens.
Progressive Rates for Young Adult Drivers
While Progressive is more in line with the national average for young adult drivers, its rates are still $126 higher for females and $67 higher for males. USAA has the lowest rates for young adults, coming in more than $660 less for females and nearly $650 less for males than Progressive. Progressive is approximately $500 less for females and more than $660 less for males than Farmers, which has the highest rates for young adult drivers. Geico posted the second-lowest rates in our study for both male and female young adult drivers.
Progressive Rates for Adult Drivers
For adult drivers, Progressive’s rates are very close to the national average, with just a $10 difference for females and a $58 difference for males. However, when compared to USAA, which offers the lowest rates for adult drivers, Progressive’s rates are considerably higher. USAA’s rates are $540 per year less for females and more than $480 less for males compared to Progressive.
On the other hand, Allstate has the most expensive rates for adult drivers, being more than $600 higher for females and approximately $640 higher for males than Progressive.
In our study, we found that Geico and State Farm were the second and third least expensive companies, respectively, for drivers in this age range.
Progressive Rates for Senior Drivers
Senior drivers usually pay less for car insurance with Progressive compared to the national average. For females, Progressive’s average annual rates are $86 less than the national average, and for males, it’s $105 less.
However, once again, USAA offers the most affordable rates for seniors, with nearly $375 less for females and almost $400 less for males compared to Progressive.
When compared with Allstate, which has the highest rates for seniors, Progressive is significantly more affordable, with more than $670 less for females and $685 less for males.
On average, State Farm’s premiums are the second-lowest for senior drivers, and Geico’s rates come in as the third-lowest.
Progressive Rates After a Speeding Ticket
Car insurance companies commonly increase rates for drivers who have a speeding ticket on their driving record. For drivers with a single speeding ticket, Progressive’s rates are nearly the same as the national average, differing by just $59.
However, when compared to USAA, which offers the lowest average annual rates for this category, the gap widens significantly, with Progressive being more than $760 more expensive.
In comparison to Farmers, which has the highest rates for drivers with a speeding ticket, Progressive is $665 per year less.
State Farm, on the other hand, had the lowest rates in our study for drivers who received a single speeding ticket.
Progressive Rates After an Accident
It is common for car insurance companies to increase rates for drivers who have an accident on their driving record. For drivers with an accident, Progressive’s rates are $194 more than the national average and more than $960 higher than USAA, which offers the lowest average annual rates for drivers in this category.
Farmers have the most expensive rates for drivers with an accident, with rates that are $800 higher than Progressive’s rates.
Progressive Rates After a DUI
Having a DUI on your driving record typically results in higher car insurance rates. In this category, Progressive offers lower sample rates compared to the national average, with more than $700 in savings.
Furthermore, Progressive’s rates are over $2,000 per year less than AAA, which has the highest average annual rates for drivers with a DUI on their record.
However, Progressive’s rates are approximately $240 more than State Farm, which provides the cheapest rates for drivers with a DUI.
Progressive Rates for Drivers with Poor Credit
Car insurance companies take various factors into account when calculating car insurance rates, and one of these factors is the driver’s credit score. Typically, lower credit scores lead to higher rates. In the case of drivers with poor credit, Progressive’s rates are about $200 less than the national average.
However, compared to USAA, which offers the cheapest rates for drivers with poor credit, Progressive’s rates are approximately $800 higher.
On the other hand, Progressive’s rates are approximately $1,300 less than AAA, which has the most expensive rates for drivers with poor credit.
According to our study, Geico had the second-lowest rates for drivers with poor credit scores.
How Much Is Minimum Coverage with Progressive?
One common method to save money on car insurance rates is to opt for the state-mandated minimum amount of liability coverage. For drivers with minimum coverage, Progressive’s rates are only $18 per year less than the national average.
Comparatively, Progressive’s rates are approximately $560 less than Allstate, which has the highest sample rates for drivers who choose minimum coverage.
However, when compared to USAA, which offers the lowest rates for drivers with minimum coverage, Progressive’s rates are nearly $490 higher. Additionally, Progressive’s rates are $318 higher than Geico’s, which offers the second-lowest rates among the companies analyzed in our study.
