The Dallas Cowboys activated right guard Zack Martin from the COVID-19 Reserve List on Monday, but will start the week without a defensive end Randy Gregory due to health and safety protocols.
Gregory was on the COVID-19 list four days after playing in the opener and lost to Tampa Bay 31-29. Backup tackle Brandon Knight is back with Martin.
Martin was unable to play against the defending Super Bowl champion after a positive test five days ago. The Cowboys are at risk of setting another starter aside for the game if Gregory doesn’t come back this week.
Two negative tests are required at 24-hour intervals to activate Gregory. The Cowboys will visit the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday.
Dallas hasn’t had receiver Michael Gallup for at least three weeks. Gallup was placed on the injured list due to tension in his left calf. He was injured in Tampa Bay.
Even if Martin returns, the Cowboys are once again missing one of the top three linemen after five games on the right tackle, La’el Collins, were interrupted due to a violation of the NFL’s substance abuse policy. Collins played in the opener.
