Real Madrid had a stunning comeback against Real Sociedad on Sunday, winning 2-1 and reclaiming the top spot in La Liga. This victory marked their fifth consecutive win in the league.
Under the leadership of Carlo Ancelotti, Real Madrid maintained their perfect record in the league, securing 15 points. They are now two points ahead of second-placed Barcelona, who dominated Betis with a 5-0 victory on Saturday.
The game saw Real Sociedad taking an early lead after just five minutes when former Madrid player Take Kubo set up Ander Barrenetxea in the box. Barrenetxea scored on the rebound after a remarkable save attempt by keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
In the opening moments of the second half, Federico Valverde leveled the score with a powerful shot from the edge of the box that hit the left post and found the net. This marked Valverde’s first goal of the season.
Valverde expressed his determination, saying, “The best thing we did was keep trying. They had many chances, and they scored on their first one. But we never gave up, and the early second-half goal boosted our momentum. I’m happy to contribute in any way I can.”
In the 60th minute, Joselu scored the winning goal for Real Madrid with a towering header from a cross delivered by Fran Garcia from the left.

Joselu commented on the victory, acknowledging the competitiveness of the league: “Any team in the league can be a threat. We need to work on our early goal concessions. However, playing at the Bernabeu with our fans allowed us to turn the game around. Scoring goals and helping the team earn points is what brings me the most joy.”
Real Madrid is now gearing up for its Champions League campaign, hosting Union Berlin on Wednesday, followed by a league derby against Atletico Madrid.
