Pakistan will face Australia in the semi-finals.
Pakistan is the only undefeated team in the ongoing T20 World Cup. They beat Scotland very comfortably in the final Super 12 game of the tournament and went into a knockout with great momentum. Men in Green faced Australia in the semi-finals and only two wins since winning their second T20 World Cup.
Returning to the game, Babar Azam decided to test his army again and chose to choose the bat first. However, the Scottish bowler successfully tied him to Mohammad Liswan in a power playover. Pakistan scored only 35 runs and lost Lizwan in the process of increasing pressure. The only unchecked box, Fakhar Zaman’s form, was maintained as well, as left-handers could only collect 8 runs from 13 balls.
On the 10th 59/2, Scotland did a very good job. However, Babar Azam had begun by that time, and veteran Mohammad Huffies put pressure on the captain with a fierce knock. The duo added 53 runs to the third wicket, scoring 31 runs with only 19 balls in the latter.
Babal made some gorgeous strokes on his way to his fourth 50 in the tournament. He smashed 66 runs from 47 balls with 5 4s and 3 6s before leaving. But the real impetus for innings was provided by another veteran Shoaib Malik, who was on the WC team at the last moment. Malik showed his worth rather than opening the lock for the first time.
He received the full amount of some poor bowling from Scotland and stirred the run for the pleasure of hitting a 6 in Sharjah. Malik defeated more than 20 runs in the final over of the inning, bringing the fastest 50 in this year’s edition. When Pakistan scored 77 runs in the final 5 overs and finished 189/4 with 20 overs, he remained undefeated with only 18 balls and 54 offs, 6 sixs and 4 balls.
Bellington makes Scotland shine with bats
Scotland had to do a special performance to get closer to 190 in the chase. But they quickly went down four and had only 41 runs on the board. Pakistani bowlers, even the informal George Manzie, fired 17 runs from 31 balls, tying up their batters and staying in good shape.
The result of the match was irrelevant in the middle of the chase, and Scotland played free cricket thanks to Richie Berrington. The all-rounder blamed an impressive half-century showing the extent of his blows. He was the only batter to cross the 20-run mark, but only two more Scottish players reached double digits with a bat.
Bellington was the only brilliant light for Scotland, not out with 54 out of 37. Pakistan’s bowler was also a group bowling performance as he only won 117/6 with 72 runs. Spinners Imad Washem (0/17) and Shadab Khan (2/14) bothered Scotland again, and when they arrived below next year, they were keen to improve this aspect of the game. A big stage.
Twitter’s reaction is as follows:
We pay tribute to Babar Azam’s decision. He beat Toss and decided to hit the bat first. He prepared himself and his team for the semi-finals. In case they lose toss that day. The captain is leading from the front. #Pakistan ❤️
