Salman Khan took to Instagram to wish his Father Salim Khan on his birthday. Salim, a prominent screenwriter who was part of the Salim-Javed duo, celebrated his 86th birthday on Wednesday, November 24.
Salman shared a complete family photo and wrote in the caption: “Happy birthday dad …”
The picture shows the entire Khan family: Salman, Salim Khan, Salma Khan, Sohail Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Helen, Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Khan Agnihotri and Arpita Khan Sharma.
Born in Indore on November 24, 1935, Salim, along with Javed Akhtar, wrote the scripts for iconic films such as Sholay, Don, and Deewar. Together they are considered the best and most successful Hindu screenwriters of all time. The duo won three Filmfare Awards for Shakti, Deewar and Zanjeer.
Salim made his solo screenwriting debut on Do Bhai. He also worked as an actor in films such as Teesri Manzil and Wafadar. He has been married twice, once to Salma Khan in 1964 and then to Helen in 1981.
This last marriage was the cause of a little stir in the family. Salman had expressed his anger about it in previous interviews, as he was very attached to his mother and would “hate” when his father came home late. However, his mother came to accept him and the bitterness faded over time. The family was ‘a clenched fist’, as Salman put it, and Helen found her place in the family
