The introduction of the Splatoon series is one of the highlights of the Wii U console cycle. The third-person shooter splashed heavily when it launched back on the Wii U in 2015, earning a decent sequel to the Nintendo Switch in 2017. Splatoon 2 has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, establishing the series. The most successful new IP on the switch.
After two years of post-launch support, development for Splatoon 2 officially ended in July 2019 with the final Splatfest. But with the announcement of Splatoon 3 We can be excited about what the new sequel will offer.
The announcement trailer features some fancy features for the game, including new weapons, new settings and character customization options. But what are the other details? We’ve put everything together to learn about Splatoon 3 and what we can expect from the sequel.
When is the release date of Splatoon 3?
Nintendo’s most recent direct has announced that Splatoon 3 is coming in 2022. We don’t know the exact date or quarter yet, but we’ll update this article when more news comes.
What does the Splatoon 3 trailer tell us?
Although mostly cinematic, the announcement trailer for Splatoon 3 shows some great features. We got to see some options for character customization, as well as a new setting for the game, which goes from a post-apocalyptic style desert to a bustling city.
The show also featured some fancy weapons, including bows that players could use. Splatoon 3 also seems to follow a formula similar to previous games, with two teams of four fighting in the same arena.
What should you expect from Splatoon 3?
One of the biggest criticisms of Splatoon 2 is the lack of options when playing with friends. Voice chat was handled through a mobile app, and communicating with friends was at best incredible – we wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo tried to fix these issues. Without some multiplayer issues, Splatoon 3 will probably offer a new story mode campaign and maps and weapons for solo and multiplayer modes.
Will there be a Splatoon 3 amoeba pack?
Based on the first two games, which have numerous amoeba packs, Splatoon 3 will almost certainly follow suit. The original Splatoon’s amoeba pack was centered on the Inclings, while the Splatoon 2’s pack was centered around the pop duo, Pearl and Marina. If Splatoon 3 maintains this pattern, there must be at least two new characters to create amiibos.
