SRH will look to keep themselves in the playoffs race with CSK’s chances blurring out.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to get back to winning ways when they clash against the Chennai Super Kings for the 46th match of the IPL 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. There was some optimism among CSK supporters when the team defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in the tournament, but the Men in Yellow failed to impress further and multiple losses have hampered their campaign.
On the other hand, SRH made a brilliant comeback after they lost their first two games this year, as they grabbed five consecutive victories. In their most recent encounter, SRH were defeated by Gujarat Titans on the last ball, but there was enough evidence to show that running past the Kane Williamson-led team in the remaining matches will be difficult.
Although CSK has been inconsistent, they have found an ideal playing combination. Mitchell Santner coming in for Moeen Ali has been helpful for the bowling lineup as he provides precision. South African fame Dwaine Pretorius has given some good accuracy with the ball but has also been pretty expensive recently. Chennai would really need opener Ruturaj Gaikwad to find his mojo since their batting powerplay results have been disappointing.
SRH have assembled an underrated yet destructive bowling attack in the form of Umran Malik, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar, and T Natarajan. After a match-winning spell against RCB, Jansen has to bear a lot of pressure in the game against GT. Malik has been a gem of a player for SRH and holds the ability to consistently bowl at a speed above 150 kph.
Though SRH lost their previous encounter against the Titans, Malik grabbed his maiden five-wicket haul and earned the Player of the Match award. The top-order batters and the upper middle-order has been in form for quite some time now, and in their previous encounter against CSK, Abhishek Sharma was outstanding with the bat.
Pitch and conditions
Both batters and bowlers are likely to benefit from the surface at the MCA Stadium. After the batting-friendly condition of the first few games, it will be intriguing to observe how the pitch behaves. The conditions are predicted to favor the batters. The par score will be in the range of 160-170.
Playing combinations for SRH vs CSK
SRH will not need any change to their side as their combination has managed to give out very tough competition.
Predicted Playing XI: Kane Williamson, Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran, Shashank Singh, Washington Sundar, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umran Malik, T Natarajan
Chennai Super Kings
CSK batters will have to up their game in order to put up a defendable total. Looking at their previous performance against SRH, they have a lot of improvement to do. Bowlers have to strategize in order to dismiss the SRH top order early and give their team the upper hand in the game.
