Inspired by Quinton de Kock and Reeza Hendricks, bowling and undefeated 50s helped South Africa sweep the Twenty20 series 3-0 against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. South Africa chased 121 for victory and took home with Decock 59 and Hendrix 56 at the third T20 International (T20I) in Colombo with a 14.4 over. South African bowlers Bjorn Fortuin and Kagiso Rabada each took two wickets to limit Sri Lanka to 120-8 after the host chose to hit the bat first.
Since then, Decock and Hendrix have won South Africa’s premier T20 partnership, 121, for wickets against Sri Lanka. This shows another advantage after the last 9 wickets win.
De Kock, a left-side wicket-keeper batter who hit 58, who won the match in the second T20I, raised 50 with 40 balls and attacked his opponent’s bowler.
Hendrix recorded his seventh T20I half-century, hitting five fours and one six with a 42-ball knock.
The South African bowler won after Lavada rattled the top order at his pace. He sent Avishka Fernando back at 12 and bowled Bhanuka Rajapaksa at 5.
Fortuin won two major wickets, including Dhananjaya de Silva, one confused, Wanindu Hasaranga won four and returned a 2-21 number with a left arm spin.
Opener Kusal Perera fell to the skipper and left-arm spinner Keshav Maharaj, who captured the wicket-keeper batter lbw after scoring a top score of 39.
Sri Lanka slipped into 86-7, paying homage to the whole team when No. 9 Chamika Karna Ratone hit 19 to 24 undefeated and finished 6 innings to the team.
It was a disappointing result for Dasun Shanka’s Sri Lanka, who won three ODI Series 2-1 games last week.
