NSTrickly cam dancing Ugo Monnier is praised for making his debut at the show just hours after attending his father’s funeral.
Former rugby union player, a sports expert, took him to the dance floor on Saturday with his professional dance partner Otimabuse.
He was commended by the judges for “doing his best”.
While waiting for their score, he revealed to co-presenter Claudia Winkleman the bitter background of his first dance.
Winkleman told Monnier: “I know you wanted to dedicate this first dance to someone very special.”
Monnier replied. “My father died a few weeks ago. [from] Prostate cancer, we had his funeral this morning.
“During the funeral, they said today was a festive day, and that’s exactly how today felt, there’s no better way to celebrate than to dance, so tonight feels really special. . “
Viewers of the show expressed their support for Monnier in response to Monnier’s revelation.
Some write: We’ll have a funeral for our father this morning and we’ll be out tonight to give more power to men. “
Another wrote: I think Ugo’s dad is very proud of it. The first week, and for him after such an emotional two weeks and a day, is great. xx “

Mabse and Monnier played samba on Justin Wellington’s track “Iko Iko (MyBestie)” featuring Small Jam.
The pair received positive comments from judges, especially head judge Shirley Ballas.
Before the show started, Monnier said he would attend Strictly I wanted to prove to people that “the dream came true” and that there was “more than just the dance moves of my dad.”
“I love costumes at the best time, so bring sequins!”
