On Monday evening in Washington, DC, Texas Democratic Representative Henry Cuellar experienced a carjacking in the Navy Yard area, as confirmed by his office to CBS News. The incident occurred at the intersection of K Street and New Jersey Avenue Southeast, as reported by the DC Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency in an alert. The carjacking took place just after 9:30 p.m., according to the DC Police.
Jacob Hochberg, Chief of Staff for Cuellar, informed CBS News that the congressman was parking his car when three armed individuals approached him and forcibly took his vehicle. Thankfully, Cuellar was unharmed in the incident, and he is currently cooperating with local law enforcement. Hochberg expressed gratitude to the Metro PD and Capitol Police for their swift response, which resulted in the recovery of the congressman’s vehicle.
