The Walking Dead now feels like the show is split in half. Some are trying to stay true to Robert Kirkman’s source material, the last federal arc of comics in which the classified society continues to exist in the apocalypse. The other is a brand new arc invented by the show itself, confronting the new murder threat, Reaper. Because Darryl needs to infiltrate them and Maggie and Negan need to work together to defeat them.
I didn’t like the cartoon Federal Ark, and I didn’t like it at the show. That’s not a big surprise. But I love what The Walking Dead does in its own storyline, especially the interaction between Negan and Maggie. This peaked in an absolutely wonderful conversation about what I wanted to say. For many years..
In the conversation, Negan said that the “right thing” to do many years ago was to kill everyone, not part of the lineup, which was almost entirely his community with the Savior War he lost so badly. I admit that I was killed.
Maggie is scary when Negan says this, but Negan pulls a trap card. This is what I wanted to talk about. He brings up the fact that Rick was the first to hit before the lineup happened. This is when Rick, Glen, and others sneak into one of Negan’s satellite outposts and cut through everyone’s throat while sleeping. Between this and Darryl’s blasting of some saviors, the war was essentially declared in Negan, before the famous lineup took place.
Maggie argues that Negan was worse because there were no women and children at the outpost, and he was executing people in front of their family. Negan responds by saying he knows that Aaron got Gracie by kidnapping her from the Savior’s base, and she shouldn’t throw stones. After all, the outpost man was the father of a husband, boyfriend, and children like Gracie.
I wanted to see this grow For many years Like when the show returned this way in Season 5, it completely changed the source material and made Rick an instigator instead of Negan. And by comparison, Negan’s killing of two men, horrifyingly, didn’t look like most. Sufficient In retaliation, given the number of people killed by Rick and his group. Rick was cheeky and thought the outpost was the entire size of the Savior’s army, but learned a difficult and untrue way, resulting in the loss of countless friends.
I’m glad to see The Walking Dead, which has plagued me for years, is back. And even Maggie eventually seemed to understand what Negan was talking about. This culminates in Negan training Maggie to become a whisperer. This is a common threat faced by both parties and is another lesson for embracing enemy tactics and doing everything necessary to protect people.
I thought this was a great episode (except most of the federal ones). I especially love The Walking Dead doing with Negan and Maggie this year. I’m looking forward to seeing how this happens for the rest of the season and whether both will survive to the end.
