Netflix has just dropped the trailer for one of its most highly anticipated series “The Witcher” starring Henry Cavill. The first installment of the third season of “The Witcher” is all set to come out by the end of this month, that is on 29th June.
The series based on the Video Game and book of the same name, came out with its first season in 2019. The third season will mark the exit of the actor Henry Cavill as the leading man while Liam Hemsworth takes over the character of Geralt in the fourth season.
What To Expect In The Third Season Of The Witcher
Though “The Witcher” has been all about magic and slaying monsters so far, the first look of the third season suggests that it will be much more than that. In the trailer, Geralt (Cavill) admits “For the first time, I understand real fear,” as he goes into battle to protect Ciri once again.
The second season ended with some great twists of betrayal and passion as Ciri banished the spirit of Voleth Meir that possessed her and Yennefer betrayed Geralt by sacrificing herself to save Ciri after the former Princess of Cintra slaughtered many of Geralt’s fellow Witchers.
The synopsis of the upcoming season gives a peak into newfound vows of trust and protection, it says
“As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her, Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it.
“Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever.”
Will Hemsworth Carry On The Legacy Of Cavill?
Henry Cavill has done justice to the character of Geralt for three seasons now but due to some unknown reasons which have been labeled “creative differences”, the Superman actor is ready to give up the mantle of The White Wolf and move on from the Netflix series. The torch now passes on to the Hemsworth brother, Liam. The Hunger Games actor has been roped in to play Geralt in the fourth season which is already under work and the fifth season which is likely still in the pipeline.
While fans cannot wait to find out if Liam does the same justice to Geralt, there is no option than to just wait and watch how it plays out while the team of The Witcher has been all hush-hush about the fourth and the fifth season.
