Reports from Jason Jay Smart, a correspondent with Kyiv Post, transmitted via the X network (formerly Twitter), indicate that Ukraine has achieved a significant victory by launching an attack on a Russian air base.
In a brief message, Smart conveyed, “Ukrainian forces have effectively targeted a Russian air base, as confirmed by the Counterintelligence of Ukraine’s Security Service. The attack centered on Kursk airfield and involved the utilization of drones.” Expanding on the incident, Smart shared more intricate details, stating, “Sources close to the publication reveal that a squadron of 16 Ukrainian kamikaze drones executed a precision strike against four Russian Su-30 aircraft and one MiG-29 jet. Additionally, the assault damaged Russian S-300 radar systems and neutralized two Panzir anti-aircraft defense units.”
The Panzir, also recognized by its NATO designation as the SA-22 Greyhound, is a Russian short-range air defense system.
