Cell phone footage captures a Ukrainian soldier using MANPADS to take down a Russian cruise missile in mid-flight! Ukrainian soldier intercepts Russian missile with rocket, causing explosion mid-air. Celebratory cheers were heard off-camera.
A video shared on social media shows a Ukrainian soldier using a man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS) to shoot down a Russian cruise missile. The Ukraine Weapons Tracker identified the missile as a Kh-101 or Kh-55, but it was also suggested that it could be a Kalibr missile. Other accounts also identified it as the Kh-101, with the Ukraine Battle Map noting that it was Russia’s most advanced stealth missile.
It was easily taken down by the Ukrainian soldier’s Soviet Igla MANPADS over Kyiv Oblast. Similar videos of Ukrainian soldiers shooting down Russian missiles have emerged online in the past month.

One video, shared by the Ukrainian National Guard and reposted on Twitter, shows a Ukrainian soldier standing on top of a tall building in Ukraine and using MANPADS to take down another Russian cruise missile. The video was reposted by BBC News Ukraine, with the reporter Myroslava Petsa stating, ‘Nothing extra.
Just a Ukrainian National guard casually shooting down Russia’s cruise missile that was approaching Kyiv.’ These incidents demonstrate the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia and the use of advanced weaponry by both sides.
