Earlier today, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra tweeted the viral clip with a scathing question for Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“@narendramodi sir, your government has kept me in custody for last 28 hours without any order and FIR. This person who crushed Annadata (farmers) has not been arrested yet. Why?” This morning Priyanka Gandhi tweeted.

In the 25-second video clip, the SUV crushes protesters, who fall to the ground, while others scramble to get out of the way. Another vehicle, sounding a siren, is seen overtaking the SUV that hit the farmers.
The video matches the description given to NDTV on Sunday by farmers present at the spot, who said the car suddenly hit them from behind. The make and color of the LEED SUV impressing the farmers also matched the other scenes on the site.
The farmers allege that an SUV driven by Ashish Mishra, son of Union Minister Ajay Kumar Mishra, crushed the protesters. Both the minister and his son have also denied being on the spot.
The incident took place when a group of farmers protesting in Tikoniya area of Kheri tried to stop Mishra and Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya from entering. The protesters were upset by Mr. Mishra’s recent speech.
The farmers claimed that the violence broke out after a car rammed into the protesters in the minister’s convoy. Scenes from the area showed arson and vehicles being torched.
A case of murder has been registered against the son of the Union Minister.
Minister Ajay Mishra says that he is not aware of any FIR against his son. He has also denied that his son had any connection with the violence. Junior Home Minister Mishra said, “My son was not present at the spot. Some miscreants attacked the workers with sticks and swords. Had my son been there, he would not have come out alive.” by news agency ANI. “My son (of the deputy chief minister) was present at the venue… I was with the deputy chief minister the whole time,” he said.
The government has promised a compensation of Rs 45 lakh to the families of those who died. The injured will get a compensation of Rs 10 lakh. A retired judge will investigate the matter, the state government has said.
