Rajasthan Royals are currently at the top of the points table.
Rajasthan Royals’ young gun Devdutt Padikkal feels that his team has not played their best game in IPL 2022 yet. The inaugural champions are placed at the top of the table, having won three of the four matches played. They have a winning thrust and would look to carry it forward in their future games.
But Padikkal, who was roped in by the Royals in the mega auction this year, has a different as he is of the opinion that the team has not put up their best performance in the tournament, and will be looking to do it soon.
“I think there’s a lot we can improve upon. I don’t think we have played our best cricket yet. But we are progressing in every game and we are moving forward, which is a really good sign. Hopefully, we continue to improve ourselves to fill those small gaps as a team,” said Padikkal in the pre-match virtual press conference.
Doesn’t matter which position I bat at: Devdutt Padikkal
In the four games played so far, Padikkal has opened only once, which was the recent encounter against the Lucknow Super Giants. Padikkal always opened for his previous franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore, but has played at No. 3 for RR. He feels that the position he plays does not matter as far as it is doing good for the team.
“It’s simple. At the end of the day, we are playing towards the same goal, which is to win the game for the team. So, it doesn’t matter which position I bat at or which position others are batting. At the end of the day, we are trying to do what is the best for the team at that given situation and just giving our best and trying to enjoy to game, that’s what we are looking to do,” he added.
RR last faced Mumbai Indians at the DY Patil Stadium and will be playing their second game at the venue against Gujarat Titans on Thursday. Against MI, opener Jos Buttler smacked a brilliant century and became the leading run-scorer of the tournament.
“It will be very different as compared to the day game. The dew factor might come into play. Like we saw last night at DY Patil, it was really a high-scoring game. So, we can expect a lot of runs and hopefully, come out as the winning side,” noticed Padikkal.
