The current Mega Millions jackpot of $1.35 billion is the second-largest in the history of the organization, with the largest being $1.53 billion in October 2018, which was won in South Carolina. The third-highest jackpot in history, an estimated $1.337 billion, was won by a single person in Illinois in July of the previous year.

According to Mega Millions, it has been since October 2022 that a jackpot win has occurred, where the prize of $502 million was shared by ticket holders in California and Florida. The current jackpot of $1.35 billion on Friday is the fourth-largest lottery jackpot in the history of the United States, with an estimated cash payout of $707.9 million.

As per USA Mega, a website that tracks statistics of Mega Millions, the most frequently drawn numbers for the first five are 17, 10, 14, 31, and 4, and the most common Mega ball number is 22. Mega Millions is available in 45 states and the District of Columbia, with each ticket costing $2 and a total of nine ways to win a prize. Drawings take place at 11 p.m. ET on Tuesdays and Fridays.
