It’s a challenging start for ‘Yaariyan 2’, the much-anticipated sequel starring Divya Khosla, Meezaan Jafri, and Pearl V Puri. Released on October 20, the film failed to ignite much interest among the audience on its first day. Early estimates from Sacnilk.com indicate that the film managed to collect a mere Rs 60 lakh at the box office.

According to a report by Sacnilk, the film experienced an occupancy rate of only 5.65 percent on its opening day, falling well short of expectations. What adds to the film’s challenge is its release on the same day as ‘Ganapath,’ featuring Tiger Shroff and Kriti Sanon. ‘Ganapath’ fared comparatively better, raking in Rs 2.50 crore at the box office on Friday.

‘Yaariyan 2’, directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, also boasts a talented ensemble cast, including Yash Daasguptaa, Anaswara Rajan, Warina Hussain, and Priya Varrier. The film revolves around the dynamics of a close-knit cousin relationship and how it undergoes a transformation after one of them ties the knot. ‘Yaariyan 2’ is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, and Aayush Maheshwari under the banner of T-Series Films.

The original ‘Yaariyan’ hit the screens in 2014, with Divya Khosla Kumar taking the directorial reins herself. Starring Himansh Kohli and Rakul Preet Singh in lead roles, the film achieved success at the box office, leaving audiences with fond memories.

‘Yaariyan 2’ had generated considerable buzz ahead of its release, with fans eagerly anticipating how the sequel would fare. However, the lukewarm response on its first day raises questions about its performance in the days to come. It remains to be seen if the film can pick up momentum and gain the attention it aspires to in the competitive world of Bollywood.
